About Me

Me working hard.

Professionally, I'm a software developer and manager. My employment history has predominately been with start-ups (either my own or someone else's) and a bit of consulting—see my résumé for details. My profession is also my hobby, and when I'm not working, I'm probably still developing something.

I've has been writing software for over 20 years, first on the Tandy TRS-80 Colour Computer (the “CoCo”), and most recently on a Mac. Lately, I've been focusing on iOS (née iPhone OS) devices; my first iOS application is That Word. When I'm not developing, I'm learning to play the piano, trying to run a sub-40 minute 10km✻, reading (mostly) non-fiction, or going out for coffee.

I've been trying for 10 years now—my best official race times are 40:36 in the Canmore Rocky Mountain 10km in September 2009 and 40:24 in the Calgary Bow River Run September 2005. Post-race, I measured the Canmore course with an online tool and found it was 200m too short, so I reckon my adjusted time is about 41:10. Though I didn't measure it, I suspect the Bow River Run course too was shy of 10km. ↩
